Muston Grange
A peaceful, adults-only touring park near Filey — no kids, no noise, just the sound of car keys being locked inside motorhomes by people who swore they'd never do that.
Adults-Only Tranquility
Muston Grange is an adults-only touring park in the village of Muston, just inland from Filey. It's known for being immaculately kept, peaceful, and within easy reach of both Filey's beach and the Yorkshire Wolds. The pitch sizes are generous, the facilities are modern, and the atmosphere is the kind of quiet where you can hear the birds and nothing else. No arcades, no entertainment complex, no children's splash zone — just well-tended grounds and a carefully curated sense of calm.
The adults-only clientele means we see fewer lost-on-the-beach scenarios and more of what we call "retirement touring problems": keys carefully placed somewhere sensible that then can't be found, motorhome habitation doors that lock themselves, and the particular confusion of having two vehicles (motorhome + tow car) and losing the key to the one you need.
The Honda CR-V and the Too-Safe Place
A retired couple from Nottingham were on their third visit to Muston Grange. They knew the routine: park the caravan, set up, then take the Honda CR-V into Filey for fish and chips. On the second morning, the husband couldn't find the CR-V key. He'd put it "somewhere safe" the night before. They searched the caravan — all the cupboards, the cutlery drawer, the awning storage, the bathroom cabinet. Three hours of searching. The key was eventually found inside the microwave — he'd put it there while unloading groceries and then shut the door. A new CR-V key would have been faster, but they found it before calling us. He now keeps the key on a big yellow lanyard that's impossible to overlook.
The Volkswagen Tiguan and the Motorhome Mix-Up
A couple from Sheffield travelled in convoy: he drove the motorhome (a Swift Kon-Tiki), she followed in the VW Tiguan. They were staying at Muston Grange for a week, using the Tiguan for day trips. On day four, they planned to drive to Robin Hood's Bay. The Tiguan key was nowhere to be found. They'd used it the day before to go to Bridlington. After an hour of searching the motorhome, the caravan, and the surrounding pitch, they called us. We arrived, opened the Tiguan, and started programming a new key — when the site manager walked over holding the original key. It had been handed in at reception two days earlier after being found on the path to the shower block. They'd driven to Bridlington without it the day before because... they'd used the motorhome. The Tiguan hadn't moved since day two. We cancelled the new key, they paid our callout fee, and the site manager had a good laugh.
