Blue Dolphin
Haven's clifftop park south of Filey — amazing views, steep walks, and a surprising number of car keys dropped over cliff railings.
The Clifftop Park
Blue Dolphin sits high on the cliffs between Filey and Scarborough, and from the caravan verandas you can see right across Filey Bay. It's a smaller park than Primrose Valley — more relaxed, popular with couples and families who prefer a quieter break. But quieter doesn't mean fewer lockouts. The clifftop paths, the steep walk down to the beach, and the exposed car park all contribute to their own particular pattern of lost-key emergencies.
The walk down to the beach from Blue Dolphin is beautiful but steep — and we've been called out more than once because someone's car key has slipped out of a jacket pocket while leaning over the cliff railings for a photo. The key tumbles into the undergrowth below, and no amount of scrambling down the bank is going to find a small black remote in thick grass. That's when we get the call.
The Peugeot 3008 and the Cliff Photo
A couple from Doncaster were walking the clifftop path at sunset, taking photos of Filey Bay. He leaned over the railing for the perfect shot, his Peugeot 3008 key slid out of his unzipped jacket pocket, bounced once on the rocks, and disappeared into the gorse 40 feet below. We were at Blue Dolphin within 25 minutes, supplied and programmed a new 3008 remote key at the main car park. They got to watch the rest of the sunset from their caravan veranda.
The Kia Sportage and the Dog Walk
A family from Leeds took their dog for an evening walk along the cliff path. Dad had the Kia Sportage key in the pocket of his shorts. At some point, the dog pulled on the lead, he stumbled, and the key bounced out onto the path. They didn't notice until they got back to the car an hour later, in the dark. A torch-lit search party of four found nothing. We were called at 10pm, arrived by 10:25pm, and had a new Kia key programmed at their caravan before 11pm. The dog slept through the whole thing.
When You Need Us at Blue Dolphin
Blue Dolphin's clifftop location between Filey and Scarborough means we can reach it quickly from either direction — typically within 20 minutes. The exposed car park and steep coastal paths create a particular pattern of call-outs: keys dropped over railings while taking photos, keys blowing out of open car boots on windy days (it's a clifftop — it's always windy), and keys locked inside cars that have auto-locked while the owner was admiring the view.
We provide the complete range of mobile auto locksmith services at Blue Dolphin. If you're locked out, we use non-destructive entry tools to get your car open without marking the door, frame, or glass. If your key is lost — somewhere in the gorse, over the cliff, or simply vanished between the caravan and the entertainment complex — we cut and programme a replacement key at your vehicle. We carry diagnostic equipment and key blanks for all major manufacturers.
We also handle the less dramatic but equally frustrating problems: dead key fob batteries, transponder chips that have stopped communicating with the car, and ignition barrels that have seized from disuse. Whatever the issue, we sort it at Blue Dolphin — you don't need to cut your holiday short or arrange a recovery truck to a garage that might not be open until Monday.
