Parkdean's Award-Winning Park

Cayton Bay Holiday Park is Parkdean Resorts' only Yorkshire park with hot tub lodges — and it's won TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards for consistently excellent reviews. It sits right on the coast between Scarborough and Filey, a gentle walk from Cayton Bay's wide sandy beach. The park has an indoor pool, high ropes, adventure golf, hoverboards, bumper zorbs, and a proper restaurant at the Boathouse.

For us, Cayton Bay is practically on the doorstep — we can be at the main entrance in 15 minutes from our Scarborough base. That makes it one of our fastest-response holiday park locations, and given the volume of visitors (especially in summer), we're here regularly. The high-ropes course alone has accounted for at least three lost keys — car keys falling from pockets at 30 feet don't tend to survive the landing.

The Ford Focus and the High Ropes

A dad from Leeds was on the high ropes with his two sons when his Ford Focus key fell from his unzipped jacket pocket. It dropped 30 feet onto the woodchip landing zone below — and despite a soft-ish landing, the impact cracked the transponder chip inside the key casing. The remote still unlocked the doors, but the immobiliser wouldn't recognise the chip and the engine wouldn't start. We were there in 15 minutes, cut and programmed a new Focus key in the car park. The boys thought the whole thing was brilliant.

The Skoda Octavia and the Hot Tub

A couple celebrating their anniversary had booked one of the hot tub lodges. After a relaxing evening in the tub, they woke up to find the Skoda Octavia key was missing. They'd left it on the decking next to the hot tub overnight — and the Yorkshire coast wind had blown it off the decking, down the bank, and into a drainage gully 15 metres away. The park maintenance team found it the next morning while clearing leaves from the drain. By then we'd already been called at 8am and programmed a new key — because "the wind took it" isn't an excuse that gets you home to Newcastle.

Cayton Bay Holiday Park Car Key Help

Cayton Bay is one of the busiest holiday parks on the Yorkshire coast. Families come for the high ropes course, the heated indoor pool, the adventure golf, and the beach access — but the high-octane activities and the constant outdoor movement mean car keys go missing more often here than at quieter parks. A walk to the beach with pockets full of shells, an afternoon on the high ropes, a soak in the hot tub, and suddenly the key isn't where you thought it was.

We're only 15 minutes from Cayton Bay by road, and we know the park well — which entrance to use, where the main facilities are, and how to find a particular lodge or pitch. If you've lost your key, locked it in the car, or snapped it in the ignition, we come to your accommodation, cut and programme a replacement on the spot, and hand it back to you. The whole job is usually done in under an hour. No recovery truck, no taxi to a Scarborough dealer, no holiday ruined.

When to Call Us at Cayton Bay

The most common reasons we get called to Cayton Bay are: keys locked in the car after a beach trip, keys lost in the hot tub (or the swimming pool changing room), keys dropped while on the high ropes course, and — our personal favourite — keys posted through the caravan letterbox by helpful toddlers who wanted to "post" something. Whatever the cause, the result is the same: a phone call, a 15-minute wait, and a working key in your hand.

What to Have Ready

When you call us, have your vehicle registration and a way to prove you own the car (V5C logbook, driving licence, or insurance document are all fine). We'll also need to know your pitch or lodge number so we can find you on the park. If you don't have the V5C with you, we can sometimes verify ownership through other means — but it does slow the job down, so if you know you've brought the paperwork on holiday, dig it out before calling.
