Scarborough's Southern Doorstep

The A64 Corridor Communities

Seamer sits right on the A64, the main road south out of Scarborough towards York, and is one of the fastest-growing villages in the area. It has its own railway station on the York line, a popular pub, and a steady stream of commuters who live here and work in Scarborough or Malton. Eastfield is more of a residential hub — newer housing estates, the industrial estates that keep the area working, and a genuine community that's grown significantly in the last decade.

These are some of our quickest-response locations — we can be anywhere in Seamer or Eastfield within 15 minutes. The kind of calls we get here range from the morning rush — someone's key fob battery has died overnight and the car won't unlock — to the evening emergencies when a resident returns from work to find their only key has disappeared.

A Bit About Seamer & Eastfield

Seamer is one of the oldest settlements in the area — the church dates back to the 12th century and the village was mentioned in the Domesday Book. Today it's a busy commuter village, with the railway station (actually called Seamer, unlike some that are miles from the place they're named after) and a location right on the A64 that makes it one of the most convenient places to live if you work anywhere between Scarborough and York.

Eastfield is its larger, newer neighbour — originally a planned community that's grown into a proper town, with its own shops, schools, and businesses. Between them, these two communities account for a significant chunk of our local call-outs. It's the full spectrum: young families with one key between two cars, older residents who need a spare made for peace of mind, and the inevitable Monday morning when someone's key fob has given up over the weekend.

Story from the Road

The Commuter, the Corsa, and the Monday Morning Panic

It was 7am on a Monday, and a young woman in Eastfield was about to leave for her commute to York. She'd had a brilliant weekend — a friend's wedding in the Lake District, back late Sunday night, car parked on the drive and left untouched since. Now, in the cold light of Monday morning, her Vauxhall Corsa's key fob produced precisely nothing. No unlock, no flashing lights, no reassuring clunk of the central locking. The fob battery, which had been "a bit slow" for weeks (her words), had finally expired completely.

She tried the manual key in the driver's door — and discovered that the lock barrel had seized from years of never being used. She couldn't get into her own car, on a Monday morning, with a train to catch and a 9am meeting in York she absolutely could not miss.

She called us at 7:05am — we were in the van by 7:06am. Eastfield is practically round the corner from our base. We pulled up at 7:18am, opened the Corsa without a scratch, and replaced the fob battery from our van stock in under a minute. The car unlocked, the engine started, and we even had time to lubricate the seized door lock and cut her a spare key so she'd never be in this position again.

She made the 7:45am train to York with ten minutes to spare. She texted us from the platform to say thank you — and asked if we could programme a second remote fob for her the following weekend. We did, at her house in Eastfield, while she was having her Saturday morning coffee. That's our kind of Monday morning.
