Why Skoda Keys Aren't Just "Any Old Key"
Skoda is part of the VW Group — has been since 2000 — so modern Skodas use the MQB platform (petrol and diesel) and the MEB platform (the Enyaq electric SUV). Both have the same challenge for anyone programming a new key: component protection. The car's immobiliser will reject a new key until VW's online system says the key is allowed. A standard aftermarket programmer can write a new transponder chip, but the car will ignore it until the online handshake happens.
I carry the online access needed to do that authorisation at your car. No dealer appointment, no waiting a week for a key to arrive in the post, no recovery truck to get the car to a Skoda main dealer. The whole job is done in your driveway or workplace, usually within a couple of hours.
